Ipswich

Most of the roughly 20,000 immigrants during the 1630’s comprised family groups.  The absence of ship manifest records for our Knowlton family might be explained by the common practice of “sneaking” out of England.  Investigation of early Massachusetts records hints that we may have been following in the footsteps of the Kenning and Wilson families.  The purchase of a home in Ipswich by John (S2) was recorded just eighteen months after the burial of his son, Thomas, back in England.
